Overview

There is no single drug proven effective in treating IBS symptom complex. Several classes of drugs look promising, including gut selective muscarinic antagonists, neurokinin2 antagonists, beta3-adrenoreceptor agonists, GI-selective calcium channel blockers, CCKA receptor antagonists, motilin agonists, 5-HT4 agonists, and 5-HT3 receptor antagonists.
