Background: I'm a software engineer experienced in developing business management systems primarily using React/Vue, and Web3 applications. My interest in molecular nutrition began in 2020 after reading a research paper about the correlation between vitamin D deficiency and severe COVID-19 cases. Driven by this interest, I've been self-studying health and nutrition, putting what I learn into practice, and developing and managing websites that provide easy access to information on nutrient content of foods, recommended daily intake, and optimal food combinations for achieving a high amino acid score. Previously, I found it challenging to understand complex research papers due to my lack of medical expertise. However, with the rise of Large Language Models (LLMs), I realized that specialized knowledge can be made accessible to everyone. This led me to create Health Journal, leveraging my existing knowledge and development experience. In a world often filled with misinformation, I hope to contribute to making high-quality, evidence-based research readily available to all. While I am not a medical professional, my hypothesis is that by utilizing AI, I can provide information that is even more objective and unbiased than information presented by experts alone.
Site Purpose and Overview
Purpose: To make the vast amount of knowledge found in health and medical research papers easily understandable for the general public using AI.
Target Audience: Individuals interested in health and medical topics. Those seeking introductory information to specialized knowledge. Anyone wanting evidence-based information, even in areas outside their expertise.
Information Sources: Hugging Face Datasets(ncbi/pubmed), NLM (National Library of Medicine)
How We Use AI: We've built a vector database from the PubMed Datasets. We use semantic search with topic keywords to retrieve relevant research papers. We also utilize the NLM API to find related publications. The retrieved papers are then analyzed and summarized using Gemini AI. We continually refine our prompts, which instruct the AI to accurately interpret medical terminology, mitigate bias, and generate concise summaries from multiple research papers. For example, instructions such as "Summarize the given medical paper and explain it in a way that's easy for the general public to understand. Accurately explain medical terms and provide clear definitions for technical jargon," enhance the accuracy and clarity of the information presented.
Content Updates: We aim to comprehensively cover health and medical information and continually update and expand our content.
