A study of 508 patients with multiple myeloma found that adding procarbazine or vincristine to melphalan-prednisone combination therapy did not improve outcomes. None of these maintenance regimens significantly affected relapse rates, remission duration, or survival. Continued melphalan-prednisone therapy beyond the first year did not provide additional benefits.
