Overview

Ritonavir-nelfinavir (RTV-NFV) combined with reverse transcriptase inhibitors is a potential dual-PI option for PI-naive patients. A single-site, open-label study of 20 patients with HIV found that RTV-NFV was effective in suppressing HIV RNA and increasing CD4 cell count, but was associated with moderate-to-severe diarrhea and nausea in a significant proportion of patients.
