Levofloxacin 0.5% ophthalmic solution was found to be more effective than ofloxacin 0.3% ophthalmic solution in achieving microbial eradication for bacterial conjunctivitis. Microbial eradication rates were significantly higher with levofloxacin at both the final visit (89% vs. 80%) and at endpoint (90% vs. 81%). Both medications were well tolerated, with similar incidences of adverse events.
