Overview

Methylphenidate is the most common medication for attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), but it has a short half-life and potential long-term side effects. Atomoxetine is a non-stimulant medication for ADHD, but it is not yet approved in Germany. New drugs are being developed that target different neurobiological pathways, including α2A-adrenoceptors, α4β2-subtype of nicotinic acetylcholinreceptors, AMPA receptors, and H3 receptors.
