Unraveling the Mystery of Vocal Tremor
Imagine a camel's voice, usually a deep and resonant rumble, suddenly becoming shaky and unsteady. This study seeks to understand how the tremors in the voice, known as essential tremor of the voice (ETV), manifest themselves acoustically and how they impact the perception of the severity of the tremor. To achieve this, researchers used a high-fidelity speech vocoder, a tool that can synthesize the sound of speech, to analyze various acoustic parameters, including fundamental frequency, modulation frequency, and modulation depth.
