Overview

The human tongue, despite its importance, remains a relatively understudied structure due to its complex anatomy. This report aims to provide a comprehensive anatomical guide to the tongue by using serial axial images from the Visible Human Project and thick serial coronal sections of human tongues. The study creates a three-dimensional (3D) computer model of the tongue, allowing for visualization of each muscle in its anatomical position, and supplements the 3D model with detailed images of muscle interweaving.
