Overview

This case report describes a severe case of Staphylococcus lugdunensis keratitis in a 77-year-old woman. Suppurative keratitis with a severe corneal abscess was diagnosed, and the causative organism was identified as S. lugdunensis. Initial treatment with ceftazidime, gentamicin sulfate, and ofloxacin was unsuccessful, leading to corneal perforation. The antibiotic regimen was changed to levofloxacin, and the corneal abscess eventually healed with scarring.
