Narrow-band UVB Phototherapy: A Ray of Hope in the Desert of Psoriasis
Psoriasis, a chronic skin condition, can be a challenging and uncomfortable experience. This study investigates the effectiveness of localized narrow-band UVB phototherapy in treating plaque psoriasis. The authors conducted a double-blinded, sham-controlled study involving 21 patients with psoriasis to assess the efficacy of this targeted treatment approach.
A Targeted Approach
The study revealed that localized NB-UVB phototherapy demonstrated significant improvement in plaque psoriasis lesions compared to sham treatment. While complete clearance was not achieved, the treatment resulted in a significant reduction in the severity of lesions and improved overall symptoms. The authors highlight the potential of this targeted approach for managing psoriasis in patients with limited body surface area involvement.
Finding Relief in the Desert of Psoriasis
