Overview

This study compared the effectiveness of dithranol in two different bases: Lassar's paste and a stiff emulsifying ointment, for treating psoriasis in 16 patients. Both preparations were equally effective in clearing psoriasis and well-tolerated. The stiff emulsifying ointment did not cause the perilesional burns reported with softer ointments, and unlike the paste, excess ointment could be easily removed with a damp cloth, making home treatment easier.
