Overview

Scalp psoriasis is common, affecting up to 79% of people with this condition. Topical treatments are often used, but the many options make choosing the best one difficult. This review found that high-potency corticosteroids were more effective than vitamin D for treating scalp psoriasis. Combining corticosteroids with vitamin D offered only a slight advantage over using corticosteroids alone, but was better than using vitamin D alone. Due to similar safety profiles and limited benefit, corticosteroids alone are considered acceptable for short-term treatment of scalp psoriasis.
