A systematic review and network meta-analysis of 179 randomized controlled trials (50,620 patients) found that all phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors (PDE5i) were significantly more efficient than placebo in treating erectile dysfunction. Sildenafil at low doses and tadalafil were the most effective treatments with the fewest adverse events. Avanafil, lodenafil, and mirodenafil were less effective or had higher rates of adverse events.
