Overview

Teriflunomide is an oral drug for multiple sclerosis, but it can cause gastrointestinal (GI) side effects in 15-17.9% of patients. These effects are usually mild and go away on their own, but in rare cases, it can cause inflammatory colitis. This study reports a case of a 49-year-old man who developed severe diarrhea and weight loss after taking teriflunomide for 6 months and was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. After stopping teriflunomide and undergoing chelation therapy, he started immunotherapy for Crohn’s disease.
