Original Abstract of the Article :
Objective: Even though ketorolac-infiltration is said to provide superior postoperative analgesic benefits in different surgical procedures, its safety and efficacy remain to be validated because of the lack of high-quality evidence. We aimed to summarize the efficacy and safety of ketorolac...See full text at original site

The Analgesic Benefits of Ketorolac-Infiltration: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
Ketorolac, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), is often used as an adjuvant to local anesthetics for wound infiltration in surgical procedures. This study systematically reviewed and meta-analyzed published randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to evaluate the efficacy and safety of ketorolac-infiltration for postoperative pain management. The researchers aimed to provide a comprehensive assessment of the evidence base for this practice and to determine its clinical significance.
Limited Clinical Significance of Ketorolac-Infiltration for Postoperative Pain
The meta-analysis revealed that ketorolac-infiltration provided a statistically significant but clinically unimportant benefit in reducing morphine consumption and wound pain at rest. While ketorolac-infiltration was associated with shorter hospital stays, this effect was attributed to factors other than pain relief. Furthermore, ketorolac-infiltration did not improve opioid-related side effects.
Optimizing Postoperative Pain Management Strategies
This research suggests that ketorolac-infiltration provides limited clinical benefits for postoperative pain management. It emphasizes the need for optimizing anesthetic agents and delivery methods to improve pain control after surgery.
Dr.Camel's Conclusion
This research is like a camel caravan searching for the most effective pain relief strategies in the vast desert of postoperative care. The study explores the role of ketorolac-infiltration, a common practice in surgery. It’s like finding a hidden oasis in the desert – a reminder that while we may have established practices, there might be better approaches waiting to be discovered.
