Overview

Acupressure is a non-invasive therapy that may reduce pain in children undergoing inferior alveolar nerve block (IANB) for mandibular extraction. This double-blind study involving 37 children aged 5-10 years found that the acupressure group experienced significantly less pain during injection, both objectively and subjectively, compared to the control group. Acupressure at the EX-HN1 point can be a helpful adjunct to conventional measures like topical anesthesia to reduce pain during IANB.
