Overview

Oral tiludronate is an effective and well-tolerated treatment for Paget's disease of bone. A 12-week study found that patients taking 400 mg daily experienced a 58% reduction in serum alkaline phosphatase (SAP) compared to a 47% reduction in those taking 200 mg daily. In addition, 72% of patients taking 400 mg daily experienced a greater than 50% reduction in SAP levels compared to 51% of those taking 200 mg daily. There were no significant differences in side effects between tiludronate and placebo.
