Overview

Neuroactive steroids may be a new direction for epilepsy treatment. This study evaluated the protective effects of four neuroactive steroids against seizures in mice. The steroids, along with diazepam and phenobarbital, protected against pentylenetetrazol-induced convulsions. Neuroactive steroids were also effective against cocaine-induced convulsions and some were effective against N-methyl-D-aspartate-induced seizures and lethality.
