[Weakening by means of phenobarbital of the immunodepressive and toxic effects of 6-mercaptopurine and imuran].

Overview

6-Mercaptopurine and imuran were studied for their effects on immune responses in mice. When used after phenobarbital administration, both drugs stimulated the formation of rosulae in the spleen without raising the levels of circulating hemolysins and hemagglutinins. Phenobarbital itself did not affect the immune responses. The study also found that the toxicity of imuran and 6-mercaptopurine was reduced when phenobarbital was administered beforehand.
