Nitrate is thought to improve mitochondrial function and maintain heart health. 3 demonstrated that propolis extract reduces mitochondrial stress induced by daunorubicin. Propolis extract has antioxidant properties and is believed to mitigate mitochondrial damage. 1 suggests that transplantation of healthy, functional mitochondria could ameliorate cardiac dysfunction caused by daunorubicin.
