Major Research Findings

Mupirocin is an antibiotic that is often used to treat bacterial infections. Multiple studies have shown that mupirocin can cause various side effects. 10 investigated the cognitive-affective and somatic side effects of morphine and pentazocine, finding that these opioids have different side effect profiles. Also, 6 showed that patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) with a combination of morphine and naloxone resulted in a lower incidence of side effects compared to morphine alone. 4 indicated that prophylactic administration of nalmefene to patients receiving intravenous PCA with morphine reduced the incidence of morphine-related side effects.

Reasons for Side Effects
