Overview

Propylthiouracil (PTU) is a commonly prescribed drug for hyperthyroidism. However, PTU can cause serious side effects, including vasculitis. The study presents a case of a patient who developed CNS symptoms, eosinophilia, and pulmonary and cutaneous lesions after PTU treatment. Cerebral vasculitis consistent with Churg-Strauss syndrome (CSS) was suspected. While cerebral involvement is rare with PTU treatment, it should be considered in patients experiencing CNS symptoms.
