Overview

Rilonacept, an interleukin-1 decoy receptor, significantly reduces the frequency of familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) attacks in patients who are resistant to or intolerant of colchicine. The median number of attacks per month was significantly lower with rilonacept compared to placebo. However, the duration of attacks was not significantly different between the two treatment groups. The most common side effect was injection site reactions, which were more frequent with rilonacept.
