Overview

Adenoid hypertrophy combined with otitis media with effusion (AHOME) is associated with impaired mucociliary clearance. In a study of 64 patients, both AHOME and adenoid hypertrophy (AH) patients showed improved mucociliary clearance postoperatively. However, AHOME patients had significantly worse postoperative mucociliary clearance than AH patients.
