Overview

Cytotoxic agents are associated with hypersensitivity reactions, such as those seen with platinum compounds, L-asparaginase, taxanes, procarbazine, and epipodophyllotoxins. Targeted therapies have fewer side effects but still cause unique reactions. Fifteen currently approved mAbs can provoke various hypersensitivities. Some desensitization protocols have been developed. Skin testing, premedication, and/or desensitization can help prevent these reactions.
