Overview

The combination of exemestane and simvastatin showed synergistic effects on MCF-7 breast cancer cells. This combination resulted in a significant decrease in cell viability, cell cycle arrest at G0/G1 phase, and induction of apoptosis. The synergistic effects are associated with the Bcl-2/Bcl-2-associated X protein apoptotic pathway and the mitogen-activated protein kinase/mammalian target of rapamycin/p70S6 kinase growth pathway. This combination may be a potential therapeutic strategy for hormone-dependent breast cancer.
