Electrostimulation: A Potential Treatment for Xerostomia
This case report describes the successful use of electrostimulation to treat a 67-year-old woman with persistent xerostomia (dry mouth). The patient had been diagnosed with xerostomia and Sjögren's syndrome was suspected. After a year of experiencing persistent dryness, the patient underwent treatment with an intra-oral electrostimulating device to stimulate saliva secretion. The patient reported a significant improvement in subjective oral dryness after just two weeks of treatment.
A Novel Approach to Managing Dry Mouth
This case report presents a promising new approach to managing xerostomia, a condition that can significantly impact quality of life. While further research is needed to confirm the effectiveness of electrostimulation, this case suggests a potential alternative for individuals struggling with persistent dry mouth.
Hope for Those Living with Dry Mouth
This case report offers a ray of hope for individuals living with dry mouth. The successful use of electrostimulation in this patient suggests a potential path towards improved comfort and quality of life.
