Overview

Daptomycin (DAP) is a promising treatment for severe enterococcal infections such as peritonitis. In a murine model, DAP alone or in combination with ampicillin significantly reduced bacterial counts compared to vancomycin or linezolid. DAP also inhibited biofilm formation in a dose-dependent manner. These findings suggest that DAP, especially when combined with beta-lactams, could be a valuable alternative therapy for severe enterococcal infections.
