Overview

The study compared two treatment regimens for latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) in dialysis patients: 3 months of weekly rifapentine plus isoniazid (3HP) and 9 months of daily isoniazid (9H). 3HP had a higher completion rate (82%) than 9H (61%), but also a higher rate of adverse drug events (ADE) (29.2% vs. 10.8%). Diabetes mellitus and peritoneal dialysis were risk factors for ADE. Eosinophilia after 2 weeks of treatment was associated with severe ADE.
