Overview

Anagrelide, a drug with anti-platelet aggregation properties, was evaluated for its effectiveness in treating thrombocytosis. In patients with primary thrombocythemia, polycythemia vera, and chronic granulocytic leukemia, anagrelide effectively reduced platelet counts to normal levels within 12 days. Maintenance therapy was also successful in controlling platelet counts for up to 28 months. Side effects were minimal.
