Bell's palsy after inactivated COVID-19 vaccination in a patient with history of recurrent Bell's palsy: A case report.

Overview

This case report describes the first instance of Bell's palsy occurring after the first dose of an inactivated COVID-19 vaccine in China. The patient had a previous history of Bell's palsy and experienced symptom resolution after 54 days. While mRNA vaccine trials reported Bell's palsy as an adverse event, this case highlights the potential for Bell's palsy to occur after inactivated COVID-19 vaccination. A history of Bell's palsy, rapid increases in immunoglobulin M and immunoglobulin G-specific antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 may be risk factors.
