Overview

This study investigated the anti-Toxoplasma gondii activity of 1,10-phenanthroline and its N-phenyl-1,10-phenanthroline-2-amine derivatives. Chemical modification of 1,10-phenanthroline significantly improved anti-T. gondii activity, with the most active derivative exhibiting an ED50 in the nanomolar range. The derivatives showed high selectivity, minimal host cell toxicity, and the potential to control both acute and chronic phases of toxoplasmosis.
