Overview

A study of 26 patients with stage IV head and neck cancer found that a sequential induction chemotherapy and chemoradiotherapy program was moderately active but significantly toxic. The overall response rate was 52.6% for induction chemotherapy and 58.3% for chemoradiotherapy. The median overall survival time was 9 months. The treatment was associated with significant toxicity, mainly mucositis and neutropenia/thrombocytopenia.
