Entacapone is a new drug that helps extend the effects of levodopa for Parkinson's disease patients. It can improve motor fluctuations, but it can also worsen dyskinesias, cause low blood pressure, constipation, and urine discoloration. Entacapone does not require liver function monitoring unlike the similar drug tolcapone.
