Overview

A study of 55 patients with recurrent genital herpes compared the effectiveness of a 6-month course of oral acyclovir to a placebo. Patients receiving acyclovir experienced a significant reduction in herpes outbreaks compared to the placebo group, who showed no change in recurrence frequency.
