Overview

In a study of 66 patients with chronic hepatitis C, interferon treatment resulted in normalization of alanine transaminase (ALT) levels in 52% of patients. However, 7 out of 17 responders relapsed after treatment ended. Higher initial doses of interferon may improve response rates and reduce relapses.
