Overview

Expanding access to effective treatments for heroin addiction is a global health priority that can also reduce HIV transmission. This study compares the effectiveness of naltrexone, buprenorphine, and no additional treatment after detoxification and counseling, in terms of maintaining abstinence from heroin, preventing relapse, and reducing risky behaviors associated with HIV.
