Overview

This randomized, double-blind, controlled trial evaluated the efficacy of a commercially available anti-itch lotion containing 1% pramoxine hydrochloride versus control lotion for uremic pruritus in hemodialysis patients. Twenty-eight patients with moderate to severe pruritus were randomized to receive either pramoxine or control lotion twice daily for 4 weeks. The pramoxine group experienced a significantly greater reduction in itch intensity compared to the control group.
