Overview

Fenticonazole, an imidazole derivative, exhibits a broad spectrum of antimycotic, antibacterial, and antiparasitic activity. In clinical studies, it showed high efficacy in treating superficial mycoses of the skin, particularly pityriasis versicolor and candidiasis, with a mycological response rate of 100% in pityriasis versicolor. Fenticonazole is also effective for vaginal candidiasis, trichomoniasis, mixed infections, and bacterial vaginosis. Topical fenticonazole is generally well tolerated, with mild to moderate adverse events, the most frequent being burning sensation/cutaneous irritation and itch.
