There is insufficient evidence to support the use of non-antiepileptic drugs for trigeminal neuralgia. In a systematic review of 4 trials involving 139 patients, no significant benefit was observed with tizanidine, tocainide, pimozide, or proparacaine hydrochloride eyedrops compared to carbamazepine or placebo.
