Overview

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common hormone imbalance in women of reproductive age. Besides difficulty getting pregnant, women with PCOS often have other hormone-related problems. Metformin, a medication commonly used for diabetes, has shown to be more effective in helping women with PCOS ovulate when combined with clomiphene citrate. However, the best length of time to take metformin before starting clomiphene citrate is still unknown.
