Overview

This study evaluated the pharmacokinetics (PK) of indacaterol maleate and mometasone furoate (MF) after inhalation of a fixed-dose combination (QMF149) via the Twisthaler (TH) device with and without activated charcoal and postdose mouth rinsing. Systemic exposure to indacaterol was 25% due to pulmonary absorption and 75% due to gastrointestinal absorption. Systemic exposure to MF was 70% due to pulmonary absorption and 30% due to gastrointestinal absorption. Mouth rinsing reduced systemic exposure of indacaterol by approximately 35%, but had no relevant effect on MF exposure. Lung delivery of indacaterol was more efficient with the Breezhaler (BRZ) device than the TH device.
