Oxycodone's Impact on Immune Function After Rectal Cancer Surgery

Surgical interventions are often accompanied by pain management strategies, and opioids are frequently used to alleviate postoperative discomfort. This study investigates the effects of oxycodone hydrochloride on immune function in patients undergoing radical resection of rectal cancer under general anesthesia.

The study involved 80 patients randomly assigned to receive either oxycodone hydrochloride (Group A) or morphine hydrochloride (Group B) after surgery. The researchers monitored changes in the numbers of T lymphocyte subsets and natural killer (NK) cells using flow cytometry at different time points following surgery.
