Overview

This study compared the effectiveness of danazol, medroxyprogesterone acetate (MPA), and placebo in treating 60 patients with advanced endometriosis after surgery. Both danazol and high-dose MPA significantly reduced pelvic pain compared to placebo, with no difference in effectiveness between them. Both treatments also led to smaller endometriosis lesions after 6 months. While danazol caused breakthrough bleeding, weight gain, and acne, MPA only caused breakthrough bleeding. The study concludes that post-surgical treatment with either high-dose MPA or danazol is beneficial for advanced endometriosis.
