Overview

This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated the efficacy/effectiveness of acupuncture for the treatment of tinnitus. Analysis of 8 randomized controlled trials involving 504 participants found no significant difference in visual analogue scale (VAS) scores between acupuncture and control groups. However, positive effects were observed on tinnitus handicap inventory (THI) and tinnitus severity index (TSI) scores. Further high-quality studies with larger sample sizes are needed to confirm these findings.
