Overview

This double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of 224 patients with tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) and medication-resistant epilepsy evaluated the efficacy and safety of cannabidiol (CBD) at doses of 25 mg/kg/day (CBD25) and 50 mg/kg/day (CBD50) compared to placebo. Both CBD25 and CBD50 significantly reduced TSC-associated seizures compared to placebo. The most common side effects were diarrhea and somnolence, which occurred more frequently in the CBD groups. CBD25 had a better safety profile than CBD50.
