Overview

This study examined the effects of four drug therapies for osteoporosis in postmenopausal and senile women. While all treatments maintained bone mineral density (BMD), only the combined alphacalcidol, ipriflavone, and calcium lactate (ADFR) group showed a trend towards reducing vertebral fractures. The other groups, including ipriflavone (OSTEN) and calcium lactate and alphacalcidol (Ca.D), did not show a significant decrease in fracture incidence. These findings suggest that early intervention and treatment are crucial for osteoporosis, particularly with the ADFR regimen which may offer greater protection against fractures.
