Major research findings

Relugolix is an effective oral GnRH antagonist for the treatment of uterine fibroids and prostate cancer. 4 , 12 .

Relugolix has been shown to reduce heavy menstrual bleeding associated with uterine fibroids, decrease menstrual flow, and help improve anemia. 4 , 5 .

Relugolix is also effective as androgen deprivation therapy for the treatment of prostate cancer, lowering blood testosterone levels. 12 , 13 .

Relugolix may have a lower risk of cardiovascular events compared to existing GnRH agonists. 11 , 10 , 9 .

Reasons for side effects

The side effects of relugolix are caused by its binding to GnRH receptors and inhibiting the secretion of sex hormones. 5 .
