Overview

Etidronate, a bisphosphonate, was used to treat immobilization hypercalcemia associated with Guillain-Barré syndrome in a 12-year-old boy. A low dose of 3.7 mg/kg/day was administered for 2 weeks. The serum calcium level decreased to the normal range within 2 weeks, and no adverse side effects were observed. The patient's linear growth progressed normally.
