Overview

This review of hepatitis C treatments found that peginterferon combined with ribavirin was more effective than standard interferon and ribavirin for genotype 1 infections, achieving a sustained response (cure) in 42% versus 33% of patients. Peginterferon alone was also more effective than standard interferon alone. Combination therapy was also more effective than interferon alone for patients who hadn't responded to treatment before.
